An approach focused on your needs
Three generations of licensed insolvency trustees
A single mission: to support you
Since 1986, BRESSE has been a boutique firm of licensed insolvency trustees that assists individuals and businesses in Quebec through their financial difficulties. Founded by Jean-Claude Bresse, developed by Charles Bresse, and now strengthened by the arrival of the third generation—Émile and Julia Bresse—our firm embodies a rare family tradition in the field of insolvency: that of treating every client with the same care, regardless of the scope of the case. We have helped more than 15,000 individuals and businesses resolve their debt problems.
Where other companies deal in volume, we take our time. Time to understand your real situation, identify the root causes and present you with the most advantageous solutions – in complete confidentiality. Whether it’s a consumer proposal, personal bankruptcy, financial reorganization, composition proposal or commercial bankruptcy, our licensed insolvency trustees have mastered every avenue available under the law, and will guide you towards the one that best protects your interests.
What sets BRESSE apart from other insolvency firms is our approach. With us, your file is not entrusted to a technician you’ll never see again. You are accompanied from start to finish by an experienced professional who understands your reality, answers your questions and defends your interests with your creditors. Our values – honesty, rigor, competence and empathy – are not just words on a wall. They are the principles that have guided every decision, every piece of advice, every case for nearly 40 years.
Whether you’re an individual overwhelmed by debt, a retiree seeking peace of mind, an entrepreneur facing a decline in revenue, or a family destabilized by a separation or mounting debt, BRESSE is here to help you regain control. Because behind every debt situation, there is a person who deserves to be heard—and a financial future that deserves to be rebuilt.
BRESSE: A deeply human family story
Jean-Claude Bresse began his independent practice as a trustee, alongside Huguette Auger, the firm’s co-founder.
Jean-Claude previously worked as a professional accountant at various public agencies, including the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy.
Charles Bresse joins Jean-Claude Bresse to begin his career in insolvency
Charles Bresse obtained his property management license and founded BRESSE Syndics Inc., which he manages jointly with Jean-Claude Bresse.
The company then began to grow and expanded its presence in the commercial case market until it became a key player in the insolvency market—specifically, debt settlement.
During this period, BRESSE expanded.
In addition to significantly increasing the volume of cases involving individuals and businesses, the company has opened numerous service locations in the Quebec City and Montreal areas.
BRESSE Syndics continues to expand and is moving into new offices located at 8555 Henri-Bourassa, in the Charlesbourg borough, on the outskirts of Quebec City.
The offices are new, efficiently laid out, simple, and accessible—just like our team.
Émile Bresse is joining the company to take over the reins.
Before joining BRESSE, Émile studied law and worked as an attorney at a national law firm, where he had the opportunity to handle major insolvency cases
Émile Bresse has obtained his license as an authorized insolvency trustee
Since joining the organization, Émile Bresse has led several major reorganization projects and has demonstrated leadership within the organization.
Émile has been appointed to the company's executive management team and as vice president of BRESSE Syndics Inc. The transition to the third generation of BRESSE has thus officially begun.
Charles's career is far from over. Our president and founder still has many years of service to offer the organization; he continues to oversee numerous projects and remains president of BRESSE Syndics Inc.
BRESSE Syndics is proud to announce the full-time appointment of Julia Bresse, LL.B., an insolvency administrator and member of the Quebec Bar, as well as her appointment as Vice President of the firm.
This announcement completes the renewal of the firm’s leadership, which began with the appointment of Émile Bresse, LL.B., PAIR, a licensed insolvency trustee, to the positions of Managing Director and Vice President.
The brother and sister will now lead the organization together, alongside Charles Bresse, President and Founder, not to mention all the members of our wonderful organization.
Her academic career led her to the Quebec Court of Appeal, where she completed a research internship, and then to one of Canada’s leading law firms, where she was involved in high-profile cases
Many highly qualified professionals and colleagues have joined our team.
Marie-Claude, Colette, Karina, Martin, Georges, Sylvie, Josianne, Audrey, Sarah, and many other exceptional individuals have become key members of our team and have all embraced our organization’s core values: Being straightforward, approachable, compassionate, competent, and thorough forms the foundation of the professional character of our organization’s members
